Welcome to the community

The health informatics systems (HIS) Community of Practice is composed of proffessionals that are passionate about digital health. They include health informatics practitioners, health care workers, statisticians, epidemiologists, policy makers, university faculty, students, etc.

The CoP aims to strengthen the digital health ecosystems by providing a space where health information enthusiasts can co-create and implement data and information solutions, improve on existing systems, establish national and contribute to international standards, share knowledge, promote best practice, and keep abreast of developments in the digital health space.

Ways to get involved

Solution Development.

You can participate in the design and development of digital health solutions. These activities require multiple skill sets including subject matter experts, business analysts, UI/UX designers, graphic designers, project managers, software developers, data engineers and users, trainers, marketers etc.

Solution Testing.

The digital health solutions we develop require rigorous testing during the development stage. You can also participate in the testing of digital solutions. This may be internaly developed solutions or external solutio where the CoP may have an interest. This involves the development and application of test protocols.

Knowledge Creation, Curation and Sharing.

One of the main objectives of the CoP is to create and share knowledge. You can support the development of technical standards, guidelines, standard operating procedure (SOPs), white paper etc. In addition, the CoP will host course/webinar that allow members to develop their skills. These includes short courses on international standard such as FHIR, HL7 etc. This will also provide an opporturnity for CoP memebers.

Systems Support.

The CoP will promote the use of exisiting systems. The CoP community will offer first line support for exisiting health information systems. This will not only reduce the operational costs but also enhance the utility, stability and sustainability of systems.

Resource Mobilization.

CoP activities will require adequate resources. Each member is welcome to support CoP activities. This support may be financial or in-kind. This may include organizing and convening hackathons, face to face meetings and workshops or design and production of CoP merchandise.

Advocacy

As a CoP member, you are expected to advocate for the adoption of digital health solutions. This will also include advocacy around adoption of national and international standards and interoperability of systems.
